Assistant Directors of Nursing are responsible for supporting the Director of Nursing and helping to supervise the nursing unit. This position shares responsibility for the nursing care received by residents. The person in this job will report to the Director of Nursing.
Specifically, Assistant Director of Nursing job duties include:
- Supporting the DON in providing oversight of the nursing program, including implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
- Helping to oversee hiring, firing, and development of nursing staff
- Communicating with families, residents, and physicians as needed
- Following a business plan and budget for the nursing unit
- Participating in creating resident care plans and ensuring they are followed
- Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations

Ideal candidates will bring:
- Registered Nurse license in Iowa (RN in IA) or Compact RN license
- Previous success as a SNF nursing supervisor or ADON with measurable achievements to share, or even better previous experience as an ADON over a full CCRC or SNF/ AL combination property
- Stable tenure in prior jobs
- Good balance of clinical knowledge, approachable communication style, strong detail orientation and comfort level with holding staff accountable
- Strong desire to live in southeast Iowa and set down roots with the community there
