Supportive and capable Registered Nurse (RN) sought for the Director of Nursing role with a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) providing short-term rehabilitation as well as long-term care in Spokane, Washington.

This property has a team that is eager for your clinical leadership and will welcome your guidance in how to best serve the needs of the residents/ patients who reside there.

As Director of Nursing here, you'll be working hard to make a clear and measurable difference in the lives of seniors. You will oversee staff providing all nursing and care provided within the SNF. You'll ensure that the team is clearly educated regarding state and federal regulations as well as company policy. In so doing, you will see the immediate improvement in care outcomes, leading to increased CMS ratings.

An ideal fit here will be an RN in Washington who has previously lead a clinical team in a skilled nursing facility setting. Any prior experience with geriatric healthcare, skilled nursing, &/or long term care will be an asset here.

Directors of Nursing are responsible for leading and supervising a nursing unit.

This position is ultimately responsible, and accountable, for the nursing care received by residents. The DON here will report to the Nursing Home Administrator.

Specifically, Director of Nursing job duties include:

  • Directing the nursing program, including implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
  • Overseeing hiring, firing, and development of nursing staff
  • Communicating with families, residents, and physicians as needed
  • Developing a business plan and budget for the nursing unit
  • Participating in creating resident care plans and ensuring they are followed
  • Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations

Director of Nursing jobs require a candidate who has significant critical care and operations management experience, a strong understanding of skilled nursing standards of care, and federal and state regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care reimbursement rules. A high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and compassionate leadership qualities are must-haves. Candidates must be able to think critically, and adapt quickly to new situations. As a clinical leader, the Director of Nursing will hold accountable any care provider in the community.

Ideal candidates will bring:
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Washington (RN in WA)
  • Previous experience as a clinical leader/ manager
  • Strong knowledge of Skilled Nursing Facility regulations both State and Federal
  • Stable tenure in prior jobs
  • Measurable track record of success as shown through Survey results, stable staff retention rates, high or increased census numbers, etc.
  • Upbeat and encouraging leadership style with clear communication of expectations & ability to mentor/ educate and grow future leaders
  • Affinity for seniors & desire to see them well cared for and served
