SUMMARY
Ensures facility is in compliance with regulatory requirements relating to staff credentialing and education. Provides services associated with ongoing professional development of staff at the facility. Serves as the facility Infection Preventionist. Oversight of the infection control and antibiotic stewardship programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct new employee orientation and coordinate competency completion.
- Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate annual mandatory and continuous education for staff using internal or external resources according to state and federal regulations and company policy.
- Provide oversight and direction of the facility infection control and antibiotic stewardship programs.
- Serve as the facility Infection Preventionist per regulation.
- Maintain current knowledge of infection control guidelines and regulations.
- With the support of the facility Administrator and all departments, keep facility infection control protocols current, oversee and coordinate the diverse aspects of infection control in the facility by demonstrating effort to prevent and control the spread of infections.
- Partner with the Medical Director to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plan.
- Plan, direct and coordinate certain in-house courses, such as the NA training program, special care unit training, etc.
- Coordinate employee health program (immunizations, flu shots, physical exams, etc.)
- Monitor and ensure current licensure and certifications of facility staff.
- Maintain employee education, training records, reports, instruction materials, and medical health files.
- May assist in the screening and hiring of nursing staff.
- Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
- Serve as Administrator of web-based, learning system for facility training and reporting.
- Serves as member of the QAPI committee and prepares reports/summaries of facility infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain certification with the Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology by attending the Infection Control in Long Term Care Facilities Course (every three 3 years).
- Serve on various committees of the facility as required by existing regulations.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
- One to three (1-3) years experience in health care field, teaching, or training and development
- One to three (1-3) years Nursing Supervisory experience in a hospital or nursing facility
- Must be licensed Registered Nurse
- Must possess current BLS CPR Certification (that includes in-person demonstration and skills assessment)
- Trained / experienced in infection control policies and practices.
- Must possess skills in leadership and communication
- Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft proficiency, and Matrix proficiency
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends for training needs, etc.
