Hospice Clinical Supervisor (RN)
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Hospice Clinical Supervisor to provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to our hospice clinical team while ensuring exceptional patient and family-centered care.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will support clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and staff development while helping patients and families navigate one of life's most important journeys.
Position Summary
The Hospice Clinical Supervisor leads the hospice clinical team in coordinating, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient and family care. This role ensures patients receive comprehensive physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual support while maintaining compliance with hospice regulations and quality standards. The supervisor also oversees clinical documentation, interdisciplinary care planning, staff performance, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations & Leadership
- Lead and supervise hospice clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient and family care
- Coordinate and oversee all direct and indirect hospice care services
- Manage interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings and ensure individualized care plans are reviewed and updated at least every 15 days
- Review and approve clinical documentation, diagnosis coding, and plans of care
- Conduct supervisory patient visits and assist with case management as needed
- Collaborate with referral sources and internal teams to ensure timely patient admissions and service delivery
- Participate in on-call rotation and assume leadership responsibilities during administrative absences when necessary
Quality & Compliance
- Audit medical records and clinical documentation to ensure compliance with Medicare, state, federal, and accreditation standards
- Monitor quality indicators and implement corrective action plans when needed
- Lead survey preparedness efforts, compliance audits, and regulatory reviews
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff regarding hospice regulations, standards of practice, and documentation requirements
- Promote continuous quality improvement throughout hospice operations
Team Development & Management
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing hospice clinicians
- Establish performance expectations and provide coaching for professional growth
- Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development initiatives
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Ensure adequate staffing and operational coverage to support patient care needs
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical operations supervisory experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of hospice experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Medicare-certified healthcare organization
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and internet-based systems
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Occasional on-call responsibilities
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
