Position Summary
Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a Cardiac/Neuro Telemetry (Med-Tele) acute care setting. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and the ability to manage patients with complex medical, cardiac, and neurological conditions while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and escalate care per policy.
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely; manage central/peripheral lines, wound care, and post-procedure care as applicable.
- Coordinate care with providers, case management, therapy services, and ancillary departments to support clinical outcomes and discharge planning.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, lifestyle modification, and follow-up care.
- Respond to emergencies, including rapid response and code situations; maintain BLS/ACLS readiness.
- Support a culture of safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement; comply with all regulatory and hospital standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Florida RN license (or compact RN license eligible to practice in Florida).
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience preferred; telemetry/med-surg, cardiac, or neuro experience strongly preferred.
- Current BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required or must obtain within designated timeframe per facility policy.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring/telemetry interpretation and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Ability to work day shift with rotating weekends; may require holidays per staffing needs.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and time-management skills; ability to lift/move patients and perform bedside clinical duties.
Preferred
- BSN and specialty certifications (e.g., PCCN, CMSRN, NIHSS) based on unit needs.
- Experience with stroke/neuro assessments and post-cardiac procedure monitoring.
