Spring River Rehabilitation & Care Center | Roswell, New Mexico
Full-Time | Clinical Leadership | $100,000–$110,000/year
Spring River Rehabilitation & Care Center is looking for an experienced RN ready to step into the Assistant Director of Nursing role at an exciting moment for our building. We have new Administrator and DON leadership in place, and together they're building a strong, dedicated nursing team from the ground up — one focused on accountability, clinical excellence, and genuine care for every resident.
This is a rare kind of opportunity: the chance to be part of the founding leadership team that shapes the culture, systems, and standards of a building on its way up. If you're a nurse leader who's energized by building something meaningful — who wants real influence over how a team operates, mentors, and grows — this is your chance to lead from day one, backed by an administration that is fully invested in your success and the success of the building.
This isn't just a job opening. It's an invitation to help build a strong, lasting nursing team and be part of the story from the very beginning.
As ADON, you'll partner closely with the Director of Nursing to lead nursing operations across our long-term care community of approximately 110 residents. Spring River is primarily a long-term care building today — not a heavy short-term rehab census — but we're investing in growth, and this role will help shape what that growth looks like.
You'll report directly to the DON, and you'll be part of a rotating on-call rotation with fellow nurse managers (roughly once every 4–5 weeks). Our Administrator and DON are committed to keeping nursing leadership off the clinical floor day-to-day — this is a leadership role, not a staffing gap-filler — though like any skilled nursing environment, occasional hands-on coverage during emergencies is part of being a true clinical leader.

Roswell has a reputation — and it leans into it, in the best way. Yes, the International UFO Museum and Research Center is exactly as fun as it sounds, and downtown Roswell fully embraces its alien-city identity with quirky shops, murals, and a genuinely welcoming small-town energy.
But there's a lot more here than little green men:
- Bottomless Lakes State Park — a short drive out of town, with crystal-clear lakes for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. It's the kind of place locals treat as their go-to weekend reset.
- Spring River Park & Zoo — free admission, an antique carousel, a kids' fishing lake, and enough charm to make it a regular family outing.
- Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge — a haven for birdwatchers, with thousands of migratory birds passing through.
- Pecos Flavors Winery & Bistro — local wine, local beer, and good food downtown.
- Roswell Museum and Art Center — home to work from noted Southwestern painters, right alongside the region's more otherworldly claims to fame.
It's an affordable, close-knit community where your work is genuinely visible and valued — the kind of place where a nurse leader can make a real, tangible difference and actually see the results.
