Pay Rate: USD $33.00 - $54.45 hourly

Position Summary

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in an acute care telemetry setting. The RN monitors patient status, identifies and responds to rhythm changes, administers treatments, collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team, and educates patients and families while supporting safe, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and update individualized plans of care, and document findings in the electronic health record.
  • Interpret telemetry rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and initiate appropriate interventions per protocol and provider orders.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products safely; manage IV lines, central lines, and infusion pumps as applicable.
  • Coordinate care with providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, case management, and ancillary departments.
  • Respond to clinical deterioration, rapid responses, and codes; provide ACLS-level interventions when required.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, discharge needs, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain infection prevention practices, fall precautions, pressure injury prevention, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in handoff communication, unit-based quality initiatives, and professional practice development.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact/multistate privilege eligible to practice in NC.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience preferred; telemetry/cardiac or step-down experience strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS (AHA) required or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe.
  • Demonstrated competence in rhythm interpretation and management of common cardiac conditions.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights/weekends/holidays as scheduled, and participate in on-call or float assignments as needed.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, lift/reposition patients with assistance, and safely operate clinical equipment.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, exposure to infectious diseases, and required use of PPE.
