As a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting, you will help patients regain strength, restore mobility, and rebuild confidence following illness, injury, or surgery. Partnering with physicians, nurses, case management, and the interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate functional status and develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful goals, active participation, safe discharge planning, and exceptional outcomes. You will also leverage evidence-based practice, clinical technology, and ongoing professional development opportunities to support high-quality patient care.

Compensation & Location

  • Pay: USD $35.77–$49.18 hourly (based on years of experience)
  • Location: Gainesville, Florida, United States
  • Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

Schedule

  • Available Shifts: Days (Rotating Weekends)
  • Hours: 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (schedules are typically staggered depending on hospital needs)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations, including mobility, strength, balance, pain, endurance, and functional capacity.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care for medically complex, post-surgical, and medically deconditioned patients.
  • Provide therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, gait and transfer training, and caregiver education.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries to meet clinical, regulatory, and billing requirements.
  • Collaborate on discharge recommendations (home health, outpatient, inpatient rehab) and equipment needs.
  • Promote patient safety, fall prevention, infection prevention practices, and appropriate use of assistive devices.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years preferred; open to all experience levels, including new graduates.
  • Education: Vocational School Graduate required.
  • Licensure: State Licensed Physical Therapist (required).
  • Certification: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

This role supports a new 90-bed, full-service medical and surgical acute care center opening in May 2026, featuring comprehensive emergency care, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery (including orthopedic, general, and spine surgery), and a 30-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
