Travel Pathology Assistant – $3,388.40/Week (13-Week Contract) – Morgantown, WV

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Travel Pathologists’ Assistant for a 13-week contract assignment in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role supports a high-volume, Level I Trauma academic medical center within the Anatomic Pathology Gross Room. The position offers guaranteed 40 hours per week and the opportunity to work across multiple gross room locations, including Main Ruby, Children’s Hospital, and the Innovation Corporation facility (opening 7/27).

Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift (start times vary between 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM)
  • Locations: Main Ruby, Children’s Hospital, Innovation Corp (as assigned)

  • Scrub Policy: Hospital-provided scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent training
  • ASCP Certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant (required)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Anatomic Pathology grossing
  • Current BLS certification (AHA) preferred (not required)
  • Eligibility for submission does not require a state license

Preferred Experience

  • Academic medical center experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Epic Beaker AP (LIS/EMR)
  • Familiarity with voice recognition dictation systems
  • Experience handling increasing case complexity and high-volume grossing environments

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform gross examination and dissection of simple to highly complex surgical specimens
  • Accurately describe and submit tissue for histologic processing in accordance with pathology protocols
  • Utilize Epic Beaker AP for documentation and case management
  • Operate standard grossing room equipment including cryostats, bone saws, scalpels, and related tools
  • Collaborate closely with pathologists and laboratory staff in a fast-paced academic medical environment
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency in specimen handling
