Overview

This leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight for Surgical Services across inpatient and outpatient settings. The Director is accountable for safe, efficient, patient-centered perioperative care and for driving performance across multiple service lines, including bariatrics, endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, ENT, podiatry, urology, and colon & rectal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for Main OR, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, Pre-Op, Post-Op, Gastro/Endoscopy, and related perioperative areas.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as case volume, turnover time, block utilization, and on-time starts.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, policies, and standards aligned with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Direct and evaluate patient care delivery, service levels, complaint management, and use of information technologies to meet quality and performance objectives.
  • Lead staffing activities including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, corrective action, and continuing education.
  • Prepare, manage, and evaluate departmental budgets; support internal/external audits and ensure fiscal stewardship.
  • Promote professional growth, staff engagement, and integration of evidence-based practice into protocols and workflows.
  • Ensure regular, reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a Director role.
  • BLS required.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA) and the ability to apply policies and procedures consistently.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams (planning, assigning, scheduling, training, and performance oversight).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MSN, Healthcare Administration, or MBA) strongly preferred.
  • ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Experience working in PACU, Pre-Op, Post-Op, Gastro/Endoscopy, and Surgery preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of Surgical Services Director experience preferred.
