Overview
The Director of Nursing will perform a variety of duties to ensure that quality nursing and clinical care is provided in maintaining an atmosphere allowing for the privacy, dignity and well-being of patients. This position functions in an ASC setting, with a consistent Monday - Friday schedule. No nights, weekends, or on-call! This job will be about 75% hands-on and 25% office work, with the need to think quickly, operate efficiently, and lead a team of highly-trained, and skilled individuals. We are seeking a candidate who has ASC and leadership/supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall operational and clinical leadership for inpatient behavioral health nursing services, ensuring safe, therapeutic, evidence-based care.
- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate department goals, quality improvement initiatives, productivity targets, and fiscal performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal/state regulations and accreditation standards, including documentation, milieu management, and safety practices.
- Recruit, hire, coach, and develop nursing leaders and staff; conduct performance management, staffing plans, and succession planning.
- Partner with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and representatives to optimize care coordination, patient satisfaction, and outcomes.
- Oversee budget management, resource utilization, scheduling, and throughput; implement actions to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Lead initiatives related to behavioral health safety (e.g., de-escalation, restraint/seclusion standards, suicide/self-harm precautions) and emergency preparedness.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (Required)
- Pain management experience (Highly preferred)
- ASC experience (Required)
- Two years of previous experience in PACU, ICU, ER, OR, Perioperative, or similar
- Leadership/Supervisor experience (Required)
- One year of previous experience in nurse management (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
- Current registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners (Required)
- Evidence of current CPR certification
- Evidence of current ACLS certification; or certification within six months of hire
- Adequate clinical knowledge and skills to plan, evaluate and perform the quality of nursing care that will meet the standards of nursing established by the Center
- Cognizant of established safety regulations
- Knowledgeable in the techniques to prevent the spread of disease and an awareness that the job may require contact with communicable diseases
- Knowledge of emergency equipment/drugs with the ability to react promptly and professionally in any situation
- Maintains quality reporting, daily logs, staff meeting minutes, supply ordering, and staff call-ins
