Overview
Lead daily operations for a high-acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This role is responsible and accountable for operational, clinical, staffing, and financial performance for a 19-bed unit supported by a multidisciplinary team of approximately 65. You will champion safe, efficient, compassionate, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, facilitation, and coordination of clinical care and unit operations.
- Allocate resources to support quality outcomes, patient safety, throughput, and staff engagement.
- Integrate clinical, human resource, and financial data to guide decision-making and achieve business goals.
- Promote research and incorporate evidence-based practice into operational and leadership processes.
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary leadership on planning, innovation, and evaluation of initiatives.
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop staff; foster a supportive culture that encourages growth and retention.
- Ensure competency management, performance improvement, and adherence to clinical policies and standards.
- Participate in an administrative on-call rotation (approximately 1x every 6 weeks).
Required Qualifications
- Education: BSN required; or ADN with MSN, or BA with MSN.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina; eNLC compact licensure may apply.
- BLS (Healthcare Provider) required.
- National certification in a relevant specialty or leadership area required within one year of accepting the role (or within one year of graduation for those actively pursuing a degree).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of recent nursing experience, including at least 2 years of relevant acute care hospital experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience required (e.g., charge nurse, supervisor, or manager).
- Post-cardiothoracic/CVICU clinical background required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Previous formal nursing leadership/management experience.
