Highgrove at Tates Creek is looking for a passionate, creative, and resident-focused Activities Director to lead our Life Enrichment program. Serving residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, this role is perfect for someone who thrives on building relationships, planning engaging events, and creating meaningful moments that enrich the lives of older adults.
As the leader of our activities program, you'll oversee a dynamic calendar of events while inspiring residents to stay active, connected, and engaged every day.
What You'll Do
As our Activities Director, you will:
- Develop and oversee a robust calendar of daily programs, special events, educational opportunities, fitness classes, entertainment, and community outings
- Design meaningful activities that promote physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual wellness
- Build genuine relationships with residents to create programming centered around their interests and personal stories
- Coordinate holiday celebrations, themed events, volunteer opportunities, and intergenerational programming
- Establish partnerships with local schools, businesses, churches, entertainers, and community organizations
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers who enhance resident programming
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the Community Engagement team while fostering a fun and positive culture
- Manage department budgets, supplies, calendars, and activity documentation
- Collaborate with department leaders to provide an exceptional resident experience
- Participate as a member of the leadership team, including Manager on Duty responsibilities as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Two or more years of experience in Life Enrichment, Activities, Recreation, Event Planning, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and event planning skills
- Creative, energetic, and highly organized with the ability to engage residents of varying interests and abilities
- Experience working in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, or healthcare settings preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn community software systems
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Hospitality, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
